Other Beaches in Menorca

Menorca has around 120 sandy beaches, sheltered rocky coves and tiny secluded inlets, many only accessible on foot, along its 2857km of coastline.

The more sandy beaches in Menorca tend to be found along the south coast but even along the more rugged north coast you can find secluded areas off the beaten track where you may be the only person around.

Here are a selection of the more secluded beaches to be found in Menorca. If you have a favourite, and don't mind sharing it with others, please let us know and we will include it here.

On the south coast, near to Sant Lluis and Sant Climent, is Es Canutells - a very attractive and safe sandy beach with a cafe and restaurant nearby. A little off the beaten track, Es Canutells has a small car park and  a few steep steps to negotiate before you reach the beach but the views and beach are spectacular.

Further along the south coast of Menorca between Santo Tomas and Cala Galdana, is the idyllic and very pretty cove of Cala Mitjana. Approached along a rough track off the Ferreries road, Cala Mitjana has a good sized car park but no other facilities.

Cala Macarella, and its neighbour Cala Macarelleta, are two superb sandy beaches near Cala Galdana. The two picturesque, pine-fringed coves are separated by a rocky headland but it is possible to swim from one to the other making for a wonderful experience. There are two car parks at Cala Macarella, one is free but about a 20 minute walk away, while a further pay car park is nearer to the beach. Access can also be achieved via a 40 minute walk from Cala Galdana. There is a beach bar and sun beds are available to hire. Stunning.

Getting a little closer to Ciutadella is the outstandingly beautiful and unspoilt beach at Cala Turqueta. The pine trees that grow up to the water's edge and the sparkling clear blue sea make Cala Turqueta a delightful beach for swimming and relaxing. There is a small car park within half a mile of the beach but no other facilities. It can be busy at times but is well worth a visit.

Tucked away in the north west corner of Menorca is the small beach at Cala Morell. The tricky access to the beach makes for a very secluded place and the rocky platforms are great for swimming and snorkelling. Behind the beach at Cala Morell are a series of manmade prehistoric caves worthy of a visit. An unspoit area of Menorca but there is a bar/restaurant on the cliff top.

West of Fornells, on the north coast of Menorca, lies the totally unspoilt and outstandingly beautiful beach at Cala Pregonda. Backed by sand dunes and pine trees, Cala Pregonda is everyones picture of paradise. Access is by way of a 20 minute walk from Binimela, but don't let this put you off - it is well worth it. The remote but extremely soft sandy beach at Cala Pregonda offers little by way of shade but the stunning location is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Dreamy.

Just north of Mahon on the west coast of Menorca lies the lovely unspoilt beach of Cala Mesquida. The soft, gently shelving sand makes for good bathing although it is not recommended for families with small children. This beautiful cove has good parking but it does get quite busy at weekends due to it's proximity to Mahon. There are no facilities here.
