On the extreme west coast of Menorca, and close to the city of Ciutadella, lies the modern resort of Cala Blanca. It is a purpose built resort and was built in 1990 and now merges with the neighbouring resort of Cala Santandria. There are a couple of medium sized hotels in the resort but the majority of accommodation is made up of self catering apartments and private villas. A good commercial centre in Cala Blanca offers a selection of supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants with everything required for a self catering holiday. Whilst still classed as a quiet resort, the beaches can be very busy during peak season.
There are two main beaches of clean, white sand that lead to clear shallow water making it perfect for families with young children. The pine-fringed coves offer the opportunity for many types of water sports, while there are Prehistoric caves and other relics to explore nearby.
A mini road-train runs around the resort in the main season, while a regular bus service gives the opportunity of visiting Ciutadella, only a couple of miles away.
