The area around Binibeca (Binibequer) on the south-eastern coast of Menorca is made up of the villages of Binibeca Nou, Binibeca Vell and Cala Torret and is primarily a residential area with a few hotels. It has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere but is still a very popular with tourists, many of whom rent private accommodation for their holiday.
Binibeca is a good resort to visit for a day trip while in Menorca with Binibeca Vell tastefully re-created to provide the feel of a traditional fishing village, with picturesque harbour and narrow pedestrianised streets. It has a warm, laid-back feel to it with a small commercial centre offering bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. Tennis is readily available at the public courts while car hire and a few supermarkets are also nearby.
The area around Cala Torret has many small coves suitable for swimming and the main beach, a beautiful horseshoe bay, provides fine white sand with calm, shallow water beyond making it excellent for families with small children. Access to the beach is easy for pushchairs and wheelchairs and the area has some excellent restaurants and bars, many with stunning views of the Mediterranean. The resort of Cala Torret has many other amenities including a diving centre and a large supermarket.
The area around Binibeca is not that well served by public transport, so thought should be given to hiring a car to make the most of your visit to this unspoilt part of Menorca.
